This quick 5 minute video goes through some of the painting stages for taking a cat portrsit from blank canvas—to fine art.
A few Notes on this Cat Portrait
Most of the footage in this cat painting video is from the latter part of the art process, where I’m really trying to get the details right in this kitty’s face.
Surprisingly, this is where I spend most of my time in the studio: on details. The live progress shown here (in a few minutes) is a consolidation of over an hour of work.
Finished: Cat Art Featuring Pooh the Kitty
It’s all totally worth it when you get to see the result.
Pooh’s portrait captures his quirky feline smile and a hint of mischief in his eyes. The background is neutral so there are no distractions from our dashing subject, and a hint of shadow near the bottom of the canvas creates depth.
